How did I get here?

One thing I never thought I would be doing is writing a food blog. I like to cook, and I like to eat but my love of writing has severely diminished since my days of writing terrible stories about middle school. So here I am, starting a food blog. My New Year’s Resolution this year is to try one new recipe a week (or at least every 2 weeks), building my cooking skills and learning different cuisines. My goal is to broaden the recipes used in our household, and have a varied mix of recipes to pull from to make dinner, bread, dessert, whatever.  I can’t promise great pictures of food prep, or step by step photos of how I made the meal. The fact is, I get busy just like everyone else, and I’m not a stellar photographer. I can promise a recipe, any tweaks I made to it, and a photo of the finished product. I will also promise to put the recipe in an easy to spot location instead of hiding it at the very bottom of the page. Talk about a pet peeve with food blogging…

Another thing that will be on here is a review of the project a friend of ours is working on. Jen, over at GrapeJuiceMom, is doing a 52 weeks of wine project and I am here for wine. Jen has designated a wine a week in order to get people to explore their wine pallets and branch out into more interesting varietals of wine. As a staunch chardonnay drinker, I was up for the challenge. I by no means am a fancy wine drinker. I don’t know what different notes wine has, or it’s various layers, but I will try to give a decent review. Plus, who doesn’t want an excuse to drink wine once a week. Have I mentioned I’m a teacher?
